Artists from around the state will showcase their original artworks plus there will be demonstrations of Celtic calligraphy.

Storytellers will be on hand to tell humorous stories from long ago. And what is a festival without a dance troupe? Celtic/Irish dancers will perform as well as professional belly dancers.

The day is full of something to interest everyone in the family. Bring your lawn chairs and get ready for a celebration of the arts.

Music MAYnia and More Art Show

May 22 to May 27 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily

at the Forest Heritage Center

Special Guest Artist-

Harold Stevenson

One of America’s most important figures of the modern pop art world – Harold Stevenson Jr.

He has been described as one of the art world’s living icons with work that spans almost seven decades. And his work, alongside Andy Warhol and other artists of the time, is part of a generation that was once classified by a 1962 art show in New York City as the “New Realists.”

Even with all of his fame and successes across Europe and in the United States, Stevenson remains a longtime resident of Idabel. And as he says, he never really left.

The show will highlight just a small part of Harold’s long career.

Tommy Allen

I was born in Idabel in 1970 and have been a resident most of my life. Raised on a rural farm east of Idabel, I grew to enjoy wildlife and the strong native American background of my family. An early interest in art drove me to pursue this field of study. I began drawing at an very young age and that quickly developed into a passion for painting then sculpting and my interest have only broadened from there.
Paying homage to my native American heritage has molded my art work. I have experimented in other facets but keep returning to my roots.
After meeting the art teacher from whom I received my only formal training, at the age of sixteen. I knew I had found a passion that would drive a major part of my life and I  fully plan to develop into the artist I have always planned to be.

Special Guests

The Ladies of the Salty Kiss

We are an all female comedy troupe portraying Crown Privateers, or “Legalized Pirates,” spanning the Tudor through Cavalier eras in history.  We are a unique and first of our kind “Pyrate Crew” – performing “Comedy at its MOST Pyratical” rather than singing.  Based in N.E. Oklahoma we are comprised of improvisation street performers that have over 20 combined years of performing experience, who specialize in Renaissance Faires around the Mid West.  Simply put, we are Renaissance Faire actresses/re-enactors who love what we do and love to share it with anyone who will listen to us.  The crew’s actresses portray characters from a number of countries and cultures from the Renaissance Era, spanning the Old World and the New.
